Indian sports fraternity extend New Year 2024 wishes to fans

Several took to their social media pages to greet the fans.

The Indian sports family joined the global celebration by wishing their fans and well-wishers ‘Happy New Year’ with the beginning of 2024. Several sportspersons across various sports wished from their social media account X (formerly Twitter).

Two-time Olympic medallist, PV Sindhu, shared a quote of Mark Twain which says, “Focus more on your desire than on your doubt, and the dream will take care of itself. With the Paris Olympics 2024 fast approaching, PV Sindhu stressed on the difficulties in the road ahead.

“Paris 2024 looms as my ultimate challenge. It’s akin to climbing Mt. Everest, but with the added intensity of conquering it in winter. In the golden era of women’s badminton, pursuing a third Olympic medal is my ultimate challenge – truthfully, my greatest one yet.”

Finally she summed her long post, “Let’s use this year to make the world a better place to live in. Happy New Year!!!”

All-time great Sachin Tendulkar wished his fans, “New Year is a great time to script new dreams, and commit further to existing ones. May all our positive thoughts manifest into the goals we desire. Wishing everyone a happy and fulfilling New Year 2024.”

From the world of Indian boxing, reigning world champion in 75kg Saweety Boora shared a tweet for new year stating, “Dear Universe, thank you for the memories, lows, highs, lessons and everything of 2023. Eagerly waiting for that time in 2024 to scale new heights.”

Apart from Saweety Boora world champion Nikhat Zareen too took to her social media account and said, “All you need is a fresh start. Happy New year”. The athlete from Telangana had a successful 2023 season winning the world championships medal and also went on to secure bronze at Asian Games which helped her secure a spot for Paris Olympics.

Moving on from the table tennis fraternity, former top-25 in men’s singles Sathiyan Gnananeskaran said, “Wishing everyone a very happy & prosperous new year 2024.” After a sub-par season, the Indian paddler will look to bounce back and secure a spot in Paris. He ended last year by securing silver at the National Table Tennis Championships.

The experienced Rohan Bopanna wrote a simple text with an emoji, Happy New Year. At 43, he became the oldest to win ATP Masters 1000 title. He will be looking to start the new year on a positive note by taking part in the Australian Open.
