The Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will run from June 19 to 24.
The eight teams for the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 have been finalized. The tournament which started on June 1 and is being played across the USA and West Indies is set to move into its second stage before the knockouts follow.
40 matches were played by 20 teams in the group stage. This tournament is the biggest men’s T20 World Cup in terms of the number of teams featured in the main round.
12 teams have been eliminated from the group stage and will fly back home while eight sides – the top two teams from each of the four groups – have progressed to the next round.
Two groups have been formed of four teams each. The top two sides from each group in the Super Eight will advance to the semi-finals. The Super Eight round will run from June 19 to June 24 (June 25 Indian Standard Time).
Here are the two groups in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024:
Group 1: India, Australia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh
Group 2: USA, England, West Indies, South Africa
Interestingly, the seedings of these teams for the Super Eight stage had already been determined by the ICC before the start of the tournament, so their position in the group stage didn’t matter. For example, it was already planned by the ICC that if India and Australia qualify for this round, they will be grouped in Group 1, regardless of their position in their group stage standings.
