Travis Head replaces Suryakumar Yadav to become No. 1 ranked T20I batsman in latest ICC rankings

Suryakumar Yadav had been the No. 1 T20I batsman in the ICC rankings since December 2023.

Ahead of the second semi-final match on June 27 at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 between India and defending champions England, star batter Suryakumar Yadav has been knocked off the top position in the ICC men’s T20I batters’ rankings. The Indian stalwart has slipped to second place in the latest ICC rankings.

The right-handed Yadav had been the No. 1 T20I batter since December 2023. However, the Indian player missed the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in February 2024 and had a lacklustre start to his campaign at the T20 World Cup.

At the ongoing global tournament, the 33-year-old Suryakumar has played six games and scored 149 runs till now. The middle-order batter has recorded two half-centuries.

Star Australian opener Travis Head has dethroned Suryakumar Yadav to become the new No. 1 in the latest men’s T20I rankings.

The 30-year-old Head played a fighting innings of 76 runs off 43 deliveries against India during his team’s last Super 8 fixture at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. However, despite Head’s brilliant knock, Australia failed to win the match as they could reach 181/7 in reply to India’s total of 205/5 in 20 overs.

The left-handed batter had a good run at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Australian southpaw is the second-highest run-getter with 255 runs to his name in seven games with an impressive strike rate of 158.38. Head smashed two fifties in his T20 World Cup campaign.

Australia lost Super 8 matches to India and Afghanistan and were consequently knocked out before the semi-finals.
