Jordan Henderson has been unhappy since his move to the Saudi club

Jordan Henderson, the past skipper of Liverpool, is reportedly a target for Ajax, per Fabrizio Romano. The England international is said to want to depart Saudi Arabia despite having only moved there during the summer transfer window, and the Eredivisie club is reportedly keen on signing him.

The Al-Ettifaq midfielder is eager to join John can’t Schip’s team at the Johan Cruyff Arena, but several other teams are also interested in signing the 33-year-old. This information is based on Italian journalist Romano.

He writes on X that “Ajax are expressing serious interest in signing Jordan Henderson if he receives permission to depart Al Ettifaq during the January transfer window.” Many clubs are interested and waiting for the Saudi clubs to make a decision; however, Henderson is searching and Ajax are available.

Reconnected with former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard, Henderson first headed to Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League on a reported £700,000-per-week contract. The team won’t play again until mid-February and is now on a nine-match losing streak.

After 12 years at Anfield, Henderson chose to seek another opportunity and signed a three-year contract with Al-Ettifaq following the signings of Dominic Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.

Henderson broke Liverpool’s domestic cup trophy streak while he was at Anfield, winning the Premier League in 2019–20 a year before the team won the Champions League trophy for a record-tying sixth time in club history.

Following his offers to Bayern Munich and Bayern Leverkusen, the former Liverpool captain might get some relaxation.

Jordan Henderson has reportedly drawn the attention of Ajax, a major Dutch team, according to Fabrizio Romano.
