Revealed: India's Picks for The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022

The national teams' captains, coaches, and journalists cast their votes in the nomination process.

Lionel Messi won the men's player award at The Best FIFA Football Awards. He was the overwhelming favorite, having led Argentina to World Cup glory in late 2022. Messi's form with Paris Saint-Germain has also improved after a tough first season with the French club.

Polish amputee player Marcin Oleksy won the FIFA Puskás Award for his incredible scissor-kick for Warta Poznan. He received a message of congratulations from Robert Lewandowski shortly afterwards. On receiving the award, he expressed his disbelief and said, "It is hard for me to imagine receiving this award and here I am standing in front of you receiving this award for best goal in the world."

Sarina Wiegman won the women's coach award for the third time. The Dutch manager helped England win the Euro 2022 tournament with an attacking brand of football, playing some gutsy wins over Spain and Germany.
