Virat Kohli’s gesture welcoming Keshav Maharaj has been going viral on the internet.

Former India captain Virat Kohli was in a joyous mood as he welcomed Keshav Maharaj to the crease with a namaste during the ongoing second Test against South Africa. This match is being played in Cape Town from January 3, 2024.

Dean Elgar, who is playing his final Test, and leading South Africa, won the toss and chose to bat first. Tristan Stubbs made his Test debut, while Lungi Ngidi and Keshav Maharaj were also included in the XI. On the other hand, India brought in Ravindra Jadeja for R Ashwin and Mukesh Kumar replaced Shardul Thakur in the XI.

However, despite scoring 405 runs in their only innings in the Centurion Test, the South African batting experienced a complete 180-degree in terms of performance.

Mohammed Siraj breathed fire with the new ball and removed the top three batters with almost nothing on the board. Jasprit Bumrah aided Siraj well and picked two wickets. Only David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne reached double figures.

Siraj completely outclassed South Africa’s batting and picked his career-best 6/15, his third fifer in the Test format outside India. Then Mukesh Kumar also chipped in with 2 wickets but didn’t concede any runs as South Africa were bowled out for 55 runs.

Virat Kohli welcomes Keshav Maharaj with namaste as “Ram Siya Ram” song played in the ground

Meanwhile, as South Africa were struggling to cope with Indian bowling, Keshav Maharaj came out to bat to face the music at No. 8. As he entered the ground and walked to the crease, the DJ at the ground began playing “Ram Siya Ram” song.

This song from the Bollywood movie Adipurush has become a kind of Maharaj’s entrance music since the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2023.

This time as the song played, Virat Kohli, who was standing in the slips, took the pose of firing a bow and arrow and also welcomed Maharaj with folded hands and did namaste.
