Sri Lanka Schedule for ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Fixtures, Dates, Venues

Sri Lanka will begin their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against South Africa on 3rd June.

The ICC T20 World Cup 2024 schedule is out and the cricket’s biggest carnival season will be back in June this year. The tournament will begin on the 1st of June with co-hosts USA taking on Canada in Texas. Sri Lanka had a dismal performance in the past few ICC events played in the last 4 years. Sri Lanka finished 9th in the World Cup 2023 points table. They could only manage to win two games in their entire league round in their campaign.

Sri Lanka had a dismal T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in Australia. Sri Lanka were part of Group 1, but they couldn’t go further from the league round. The 2014 edition winners managed to win only 2 games, against Ireland and Afghanistan in the previous edition of the mega T20I event. Sri Lanka Cricket also faced a suspension due to political interference. To come out of the turmoil, Sri Lanka fans will be expecting a stellar run from their side in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Sri Lanka to begin their campaign against South Africa

Sri Lanka are placed in group D of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 league stage along with South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and Nepal. Sri Lanka will be travelling around the USA and West Indies to play their league round games. Sri Lanka will be playing their league round games in New York, Texas, Florida, and Saint Lucia. Sri Lanka will commence their campaign against South Africa at Eisenhower Park in New York on the 3rd of June. Then Sri Lanka will move to Dallas, Texas.

Sri Lanka will be playing their next league game against their arch-rivals Bangladesh at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on 7th June. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have shared an intense rivalry in the last few years and this game will be the one to watch out for. Sri Lanka will then move to Central Broward Park in Florida and play against Nepal on 11th June. Sri Lanka’s final league game will be played at Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia on 16th June against the Netherlands.
