Rinku Singh credits MS Dhoni

Following India’s win against Afghanistan in the first T20I in Mohali, Rinku Singh revealed in the post match chat that an interaction with MS Dhoni helped him in finishing games. Rinku said, “I’ve spoken with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), he just told me to react according to the ball, keep your calm and I just do the same thing. I don’t think a lot while batting, just react to the ball.” Rinku scored two boundaries in nine balls.

The left-hand batter has also shared that he has had a lot of experience of batting at number 6 which helps him in understanding the game in a better manner. Rinku added, “I have got a habit of batting at 6 and finishing games, I’m feeling very happy with this job. I just try to talk to myself, batting at 6, I don’t have the chance to face too many balls or score too many runs, that’s the thing I keep telling myself.”

Batting first, Afghanistan posted 158 runs in 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi (42) and Azmatullah Omarzai (29) played magnificent hands to take Afghanistan to a decent total. India started poorly in the chase and lost Rohit Sharma early in the first over. Shivam Dube was the top-scorer for India with 60 runs in 40 balls with five boundaries and two sixes. He was also awarded Player of the Match for his all-round effort. Dube also chipped in with two wickets in the first innings.
