Pat Cummins’ wife Becky revealed that their luggage was temporarily lost while arriving from Sydney to the Caribbean.
After a long wait, all 15 players of Australia’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 have assembled in Barbados for their opening fixture of the tournament, on June 5 against Oman. However, some of their star players faced issues during their journey from Australia to the Caribbean.
A few Aussie players who participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs had returned home for some rest after a long IPL tournament.
Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell were among the cricketers who had flown back home to take a rest for a few days after the IPL. On their trip to the West Indies and USA, they faced some troubles which added to their frustrations of a long journey.

Cummins’ wife Becky told cricket.com.au that they spent more than two days in transit between Sydney and the Caribbean, during which their luggage was lost. Thankfully, they recovered their luggage, Becky confirmed.
Cummins’ teammates Starc and Maxwell had to spend two nights at the airports of Los Angeles and Miami before reaching Barbados.
Earlier, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis couldn’t take part in Australia’s warm-up match against the West Indies because his cricket kit failed to arrive on time.
The absence of these stars in Australia’s two warm-up matches, against Namibia and West Indies, meant they could field only nine members of their squads with the support staff doing fielding duties. Head coach Andrew McDonald, chief selector George Bailey, batting coach Brad Hodge and fielding coach Andre Borovec assisted in fielding during the warm-up games.
The 2021 T20 World Cup champions are grouped with Oman, England, Namibia, and Scotland in Group B of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
