ICC T20 World Cup 2024: Most runs, most wickets after semi-final 2, IND vs ENG

India will face South Africa in the finals of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a fighting half-century, but England bowlers kept things tight as the Men in Blue reached 171/7 in the second semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on June 27.

After being asked to bat first on a slow Guyana surface, India veteran opener Rohit Sharma hammered a 39-ball 57, while Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial knock of 47 runs in 36 deliveries. The duo added 73 runs for the third wicket.

Towards the end, vice-captain Hardik Pandya added 23 runs off 13 balls, Ravindra Jadeja (17*) and Axar Patel (10) helped India reach the over 170-run mark at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. For England, seamer Chris Jordan picked up a three-wicket haul, whereas Adil Rashid, Jofra Archer, Reece Topley, and Sam Curran bagged one wicket.

While defending 172 runs, India spin duo Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav delivered match-winning spells as both picked three wickets each. Rest of the Indian bowlers supported Kuldeep and Axar well as they dismantled the England batting line-up. 

The defending champions England were all out for 103 runs and Rohit Sharma-led India clinched the one-sided match by 68 runs. With this victory, India took revenge for their T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final loss when the Three Lions defeated Men in Blue by 10 wickets.

The 2007 World T20 champions India are all set to take an undefeated Aiden Markram-led South Africa in the grand finale at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados, on June 29 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
