Did Mitchell Marsh steal David Warner's Baggy Green test cap?
Veteran Australian opener David Warner retired from Test cricket recently.
David Warner recently called time on his Test career after the third match between Australia and Pakistan which was played at his home ground in Sydney. However, before the match began, there was a huge hue and cry ahead as Warner’s Baggy Green Australia Test cap went missing.
Ahead of the start of the third Test against Pakistan, which was his final match in the longest format of the game, Warner revealed that his Baggy Greens were stolen from him and came out with an emotional appeal to the public to help him find it.
Warner said his prized items went missing during a trip from Melbourne to Sydney in preparation for his farewell Test. Warner stressed that the public request was his final choice, stating that he had attempted to review the CCTV footage of his team hotel and the airline QANTAS without much success.
Did Mitchell Marsh steal David Warner’s Baggy Green test cap?
Recently on the Club Prairie podcast, Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan were conversing with David Warner and topic of his cap came up. Gilchrist said that the person who could have done this could be Mitchell Marsh, who is a known prankster.
“Dave, last week when your baggy greens went missing, we all said on this podcast, the Bison, Mitchie Marsh, he’s the one. He’s a prankster,” Vaughan and Gilchrist said.
David Warner said that he was hearing this for the first time, but gave an explanation for the missing cap.
“I actually read something today, and I have to actually speak to our security to actually get that story because that hadn’t been told to me. So we looked everywhere. We had a lot of people in there that looked. And quite clearly they’re saying in the media, Ben Horn wrote the story that the bag was in the team room. So there’s a conversation to be had today because quite clearly, the security team didn’t find it. My wife. There’s probably ten or so others looking through every single bag that was in the team room. So there’s going to be some conversations had today, that’s for sure,” Warner said.
