Australia women’s white-ball squads for South Africa series announced
Australia women’s team to play three T20Is, three ODIs and one-off test against South Africa women’s team .
Cricket Australia’s national selection panel, on January 12, 2024, named an unchanged squad for the forthcoming women’s multi-format series against South Africa.
Australia recently concluded their tour of India, where they won both ODIs and T20I series. The Test team will be announced after the first ODI in early February.
The three T20Is will be played in Canberra and Hobart on January 27, 28, and 30 followed by the ODIs in Adelaide and Sydney on February 3, 7, and 10. The tour concludes with a one-off test which will be at the WACA.
Alana King to replace Grace Harris in Australia’s ODI team
Alana King, a leg-spinner, is still being squeezed out of Australia’s T20I team. King will be seen playing in the three-match ODI series, with Grace Harris withdrawing her name from the squad.
King, who has picked 21 wickets in 22 Twenty20 Internationals, has not played in this format of the game since the group stage of last year’s World Cup in South Africa.
“As was the case for our home series against the West Indies in October, Grace Harris is part of the squad for the T20s only and will be replaced by Alana King for the ODIs. South Africa were formidable opponents in the 2023 ICC T20 World Cup Final in Cape Town and we look forward to the challenge of hosting the Proteas in multi-format series in Australia,” said CA’s Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and National Selector, Shawn Flegler.
The three-match T20I series to begin on 27th January, 2024.
