Sunil Gavaskar held the record for most number of test centuries for a long time with 34 test centuries in 125 test matches. Sachin Tendulkar broke this special record of Gavaskar who faced big West Indian and Australian pace bowlers in his career and still went on to bring so many batting records under his name. Gavaskar has scored 10122 runs in his career.
2. Rahul Dravid – 36 :
Former Indian captain and current India head coach Rahul Dravid is probably the finest every batter to play for India in the red-ball format. With his great determination batting in test cricket, Rahul Dravid went on to score 36 centuries for India in this format. Rahul Dravid has played 163 test matches for India and scored 13265 runs at an outstanding average of 52.63.

There’s no one matching the master in any batting record. Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring most number of centuries in test cricket. Sachin has smashed 51 test tons in his 24-year long test career which will be unthinkable to match for anyone in near future. Sachin Tendulkar also holds the record for most number of international centuries (100).
