Top five WWE Stars who could follow Adam “Edge” Copeland to AEW
Wrestlers moving from one-brand to another has become pretty normal these days, especially between WWE and AEW. A lot of wrestlers have moved from WWE to AEW after their contract expired. Adam Copeland (Edge)’s move to AEW was the hot news in the wrestling industry, which surprised wrestling fans across the globe.
So which WWE star could join AEW following Copeland’s path? So we came up with the top five potential WWE Stars who could join AEW in the near future.
5. Mustafa Ali
Mustafa Ali worked for WWE for the past seven-years and hasn't had a great run. He was not given a proper push for the championship title and neither a creative storyline. However when he was about to have a North American Championship match, Ali got released from WWE following layoff. It is speculated that Ali could possibly make his way to AEW following the footsteps of Edge.
Ali previously asked for his release from WWE in 2019, which was rejected by the company, due to lack of push and creative disagreement. However this might be his time to switch between promotions, as most of them who left WWE for AEW have similar reasons.
4. Shelton Benjamin
The Veteran High-flier and ten time champion of WWE, Shelton Benjamin could possibly move to AEW. Since AEW has become a hub of veteran wrestlers, Benjamin could be a perfect fit for the brand. He could fit in multiple roles- as a wrestler, mentor, producer, trainer and so on. Benjamin is not new to AEW’s sister promotion AEW and to its association NJPW.
3. Matt Riddle
Bro! This could be a career redefining move, if AEW signs Matt Riddle to the promotion. Riddle is one of the greatest talents in the wrestling industry with an ability to pull a mass crowd. He is good with his in-ring skills, mic skills and could have a great connection with the audience. However his controversies are something that could hold him from being signed. But AEW has wrestlers who had more controversies than him.
2. Dolph Ziggler
Dolph Ziggler, who worked for WWE for the past 19 years got released from WWE most recently, which shook the entire wrestling industry. The Underdog veteran is one of the few wrestlers who the entire wrestling fans wanted to see in AEW. It is believed that Ziggler might make his debut in AEW as he could rewrite his own story from Jobber to a Top star of the wrestling industry. If Ziggler “shows off” at AEW, this could turn into the biggest mistake of WWE and a great steal for AEW.
1. Sheamus
“The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus who has been working for WWE for the past 17 years was upset by his creative work with the company. He expressed his frustrations with the creative team earlier this year. Sheamus was pulled away from championship spotlight for a very long time and was not regularly booked for pay-per-views in WWE. However, his game is still in the top gear.
Sheamus has a lot of reasons to sign with AEW such as his frustration with WWE creative & push, his friends such as Claudio Castagnoli, Edge, Christian, Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and so on. Sheamus could restart the career, where he left, by having a rematch with Edge in a different promotion, bring The Bar to AEW and more. Since Sheamus’ contract is expected to expire by next year, there are high chances that he could be the next big deal following Edge.
