Surprisingly, there is no administrative body for the sport in the country.

Looking at the popularity of Kabaddi in India, not many of us would be aware that there is no Kabaddi Federation in India. Yes, that’s true! Since the inception of the Pro Kabaddi League, millions of fans have supported the game over the years and would want to see players playing for India.

India has achieved huge praise in Kabaddi after winning various medals in the past. Legends like Anup Kumar, Manjeet Chhillar, Jasvir Singh, Manpreet Singh, Ajay Thakur and many more have represented their nation and earned laurels for the country over the years. It is phenomenal that PKL has earned an enormous amount of fan following but administration for the game in India is a must.

Currently, the Supreme Court has made an administrative setup of a few members who look after the game on the international level for India. However, the court should insist the members hold elections in order to make a specialized administrative body for Kabaddi.

Let us take a look at what our Khel Now Experts said on the issue on the Bol Kabaddi Khel Kabaddi show:

For the federation to be made, elections are a must in the country. On this, the former World Cup winner Mohit Chhillar said, “I want elections to happen as soon as possible so that India can take part in various international tournaments and cups just like in Cricket. I would like to see India taking the initiative on this. This will help Kabaddi grow as a sport.”

Preetam Chhillar too shared his views on this. He said, “We have been listening to the news of elections for the last six-eight months, but no steps have taken place on this matter. India should take initiative first and then we can expect other countries to look into it because Kabaddi has been started by our own country. So, elections should happen soon so that we can see India playing more international tournaments.”
