Formula 1 2024 Sprint Calendar: Six venues confirmed
Formula 1 enthusiasts get ready for an adrenaline-packed season as the 2024 Sprint Calendar has been officially revealed. F1 has chosen six dynamic venues for its sprint weekends, promising fans an exhilarating experience both on the track and from the comfort of their homes.
The familiar faces of Austria, Austin, Brazil, and Qatar will retain their sprint weekend status in F1 2024. However, the thrill factor is taken up a notch with the introduction of two new locations: China and Miami.
China and Miami have this time replaced Azerbaijan and Belgium from the calendar.
China, making a triumphant return to the calendar following the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, will host the season’s inaugural Sprint on April 19-21 at the Shanghai International Circuit.
Miami, making its debut in the Sprint series, will showcase its prowess on May 3-5.
Later in the season, we’ll have three sprints just like 2023: the United States GP in Austin from October 18-20, the Sao Paulo GP happening on November 1-3, and the Qatar GP firing up from November 29 to December 1.
Potential for Change: Evolving the Sprint Format
The sprint format for F1 2024 might not be the same as what we had in 2023. There’s an upcoming crucial meeting to decide on proposed changes. While F1 tweaked the format for 2023, combining the sprint shootout qualifying event and race on Saturdays, rumours suggest more alterations for the 2024 sprint events.

Talks among F1 teams and stakeholders about potential changes are ongoing, and a final proposal is expected to be presented at the next F1 Commission meeting in mid-late January.
Formula 1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “I am delighted to announce six exciting venues for next season’s F1 sprint events, including two new hosts China and Miami, both of which will be fantastic additions and provide great racing for all our fans at the race and watching at home.”
FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem added: “We must continuously develop and adapt to ensure we are doing what is best for the sport, and as such we are working with FOM and the teams to define the future direction of the Sprint format.”
Addressing the impact of the sprint overall, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali acknowledged its consistent success since its inception in 2021. He mentioned: “Since its creation in 2021, the sprint has been consistent in delivering increased audiences on TV, more on-track entertainment for the fans at events, and increased fan engagement on social and digital platforms, and we are looking forward to the exciting events next year.”
