This will be a good opportunity for the ISL side to get ready for the 2024-25 season.
Indian Super League (ISL) side Kerala Blasters are all set to fly to Thailand to kickoff their pre-season proceedings ahead of the 2024-25 season. The Blasters will camp in Chonburi, Thailand from July 3 to July 22 and will then fly directly to their group venue for the 133rd edition of the Durand Cup.
This camp will provide Kerala Blasters’ new head coach Mikael Stahre his first opportunity to get along with his players and staff. It will also help him shape the team according to his philosophy before hitting the ground in the season opener, the Durand Cup on July 26.
The players will report directly to Pattana Sports Complex in Chonburi which will be the Blasters’ den for their three-week pre-season camp. Kerala Blasters are expected to play at least three friendlies throughout the three-week camp, all against Thailand top-flight clubs.
The club are also expected to take a few academy players on their pre-season tour alongside the new signings made in the summer. However, they are yet to disclose the entire list of traveling players.
Karolis Skinkys’s comments
Kerala Blasters’ sporting director Karolis Skinky opened up about the upcoming pre-season camp in Thailand. He said that this overseas camp would be fruitful for the team and the new coaching staff.
“I’m very happy that we have such an opportunity to start pre-season in a training camp abroad. This will be useful for many reasons like team-building, quality training conditions and friendly matches. This is important for new coaching staff as well.”
Kerala Blasters’ preparations for next season
The Blasters are among the few clubs who have onboarded a new head coach for the 2024-25 season. They announced the arrival of Swedish football manager Mikael Stahre following the departure of Ivan Vukomanovic.
While their Golden Boot winner Dimitrios Diamantakos has left the club, the Blasters have successfully retained the services of Uruguayan maestro and club hero Adrian Luna. They have also extended the contract of full-back Noacha Singh, while securing the signature of goalkeeper Som Kumar.
