Hardik Pandya is the new No. 1 all-rounder in the latest ICC T20I all-rounder rankings.
Indian cricket team vice-captain Hardik Pandya, who was one of main hero of India’s thrilling victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final, uploaded a selfie with the trophy upon reaching Mumbai, which some are interpreting as a subtle dig at the Wankhede crowd.
The Indian all-rounder Hardik was one of the main heroes, who helped India to lift the T20 World Cup 2024. Since the start of the tournament Hardik performed consistently and he once again delivered for his side in the grand finale against South Africa in Barbados on June 29.
In the final, Hardik took a three-wicket haul against the Proteas and also defended 16 runs in the 20th over of the chase, which helped India clinch the ICC T20 title after 17 long years and also ended an 11-year ICC title drought.
During his spell, Hardik picked two crucial wickets of South African batter Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller which shifted the momentum towards the Indian side. Hardik ended his T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with 11 wickets and 144 runs.
After a long wait, the Indian team finally landed in New Delhi around 6:00 AM on July 4. It is to be noted that the Men in Blue were struck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl and BCCI secretary Jay Shah arranged a special chartered flight to bring all squad members, their families and journalists back home.
After touching down in New Delhi, the Indian squad met PM Narendra Modi and then departed for Mumbai earlier today in afternoon. In Mumbai, the T20 World Cup 2024 winners will take a open-top bus ride and a felicitation ceremony will be held at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
