T20I is an immensely exciting cricket format that has caused a worldwide controversy. It’s thrilling and keeps viewers captivated on their television screens. The T20 format contributed to cricket being more commercial and popular, which aided in the game’s globalization.

Reaching a 200-plus score in T20 cricket has become commonplace. In ODI cricket, 200-plus totals were formerly defendable. However, as pitches have flattened and limits have shrunk, the shortest format has begun to see more targets of 200+ scores. Teams have successfully chased down 200+ scores T20 International cricket as well. Let us look at the teams with the most 200+ totals in T20 internationals.

Here are the Top 10 teams who have scored most 200+ totals in T20I cricket:

10. Sri Lanka – 8 times:

The champions of T20 World Cup 2014, Sri Lankan cricket team has breached the 200-run barrier 8 times in T20 Internationals. Their highest score was 260/6 which came against Kenya in the 2007 T20 World Cup and was the highest team total for a long time. Sri Lanka have won 6 times after scoring 200 or more in T20Is but have also lost two matches, one against India and another to Bangladesh.

9. Ireland – 9 times:

Ireland have been a prolific scorer in T20 Internationals with 9 scores of 200 or more. They have won 6 times and lost thrice. Ireland’s highest score in the format is 226/4 and it came against Austria. Their three losses after scoring 200 plus came against Afghanistan, India, and Scotland.  

8. Nepal – 10 times:

Nepal have scored 200 or more in T20Is 10 times and have won 9 games and lost once. This loss came against the Netherlands at home in Kirtipur. Nepal’s highest score in T20Is is 314/3 which came against Mongolia in the recent Asian Games 2022 in Hangzhou, China. This is the record for the highest team total in T20Is and Nepal are the only team to score 300 or more in the format.

7. Pakistan- 11 times:

Pakistan have made 11 scores of 200 or more and have won all 11 matches in T20Is. Their highest score is 232/6 which came against England in 2021. They have also chased down scores of 200 or more thrice including a 10-wicket win as well.

6. West Indies – 12 times:

Two-time T20I world champions West Indies have scored 200 or more 12 times in the format. They have won 7 games and lost five times. West Indies’ highest score in T20Is is 258/5 which came against South Africa. While chasing, West Indies have won only once, chasing down 232 runs.

5. New Zealand – 18 times:

New Zealand, who played the inaugural T20I match in 2005, have scored 18 totals of 200 or more. They won 16 times and lost twice. New Zealand’s highest T20I score is 254/5, which came against Scotland in July, 2022. The two games when New Zealand lost despite scoring 200+ were against India (defending 203 runs) and Australia, in which they were defending 243 runs.

4. England – 18 times:

England, the two-time T20 World Cup winners, have scored 200 or more in T20Is 18 times. They boast of a record of 13 wins and 5 losses in T20Is while scoring 200+ in a match. England’s highest T20I score is 241/3, which came against New Zealand in 2019. They have also successfully chased totals of 220 or more twice in T20Is.

3. Australia – 19 times

The T20 World Cup 2021 champions, Australia have scored 200+ in T20 Internationals 19 times. They went on to win 14 out of those 19 games and lost 4, while tied one match. Their highest score is 263/3, which came against Sri Lanka in Pallekele in 2016. Australia also chased down a total of 240 plus successfully against New Zealand. Their only tied match after scoring 200 or more came against New Zealand in 2010.

2. South Africa – 22 times

South Africa have scored 200 or more in T20 Internationals 22 times. They won 14 games and lost 8 times. South Africa’s highest score in T20Is is 259/4, came against West Indies in March 2023, which is also the highest successful chase amongst the full-member teams.

1. India – 30 times:

The Indian team has scored 200 or more in T20Is astonishingly 30 times. They have lost only 5 matches and won 25 times after scoring 200 or more in T20Is. India’s highest score is 260/5, which came against Sri Lanka in 2017. And their highest successful chase is 209. India also almost chased down 246 runs, losing by just one run to West Indies in 2016.
