Neeraj Chopra will be absent from the upcoming Paris Diamond League 2024.

Neeraj Chopra has been the biggest star in track and field events for India for quite some time now. But his recent scheduling has irked questions from the fans about his health conditions. The defending Olympic champion in Javelin throw is hoping to wear the Olympic crown once again at Paris.

Chopra has participated in three events so far in 2024. He was absent from the professional circuit for the first four months of this season. His health has been the priority as he is battling an adductor niggle which had prevented him from making an active return to the sport.

Will Neeraj Chopra be fit for Paris Olympics 2024?

The 26-year-old has now opted not to participate in the upcoming Paris Diamond League. Chopra stated in his X (formerly Twitter) account that the event was not in his calendar and that he had not “withdrawn” from Paris Diamond League.

Chopra had missed the Golden Spike Ostrava event in May due to an issue with his adductor muscle. In an interview with ESPN, he had talked about assessing the pressure on his groin and minimizing the impact on it. Chopra also spoke about taking a pause whenever he felt discomfort. He has learnt to avoid taking risks before major competitions as it would jeopardize his chances in the future. The odds are in Chopra’s favor as he has already secured two golds and one silver medal this year.

The fitness condition of Chopra has been deemed fit by Spencer Mackay, who leads the strength and conditioning at Inspire Institute of Sports. Mackay feels that Chopra is fit and is backing him to win yet another gold medal at Paris. With Mackay’s assurance, the fitness doubts of Chopra have been answered.

The question next will be how far Chopra can go to defend his title at Paris. His rivals will be waiting to take the chance while Chopra gets ready to unleash his maximum potential at the stadium. With only 23 days to go, Chopra will hope to recover and stay fit to take on his rivals at Paris Olympics 2024.
