Asian Games 2023 Day 4, September 27, Updated Results: Shooting brings medal glut for India
India won a total of 22 medals in the multi-nation tournament so far.
On the eventful fourth day of the Asian Games 2023, India had a remarkable medal haul, securing two gold, three silver, and three bronze medals. The Indian shooters, once again, showcased their prowess in Hangzhou. Sift Kaur Samra set a new world record to claim the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3 positions individual event, with Ashi Chouksey taking the bronze. Together, they also clinched a silver medal in the team event.
The women’s 25m pistol team, led by Manu Bhaker, secured the top spot on the podium. Esha Singh added a silver medal in the individual category. Anant Jeet Singh Naruka earned a silver in the men's skeet individual event, and the team added a bronze. Vishnu Saravanan contributed a bronze in the men's dinghy ICLA7 sailing event
In Wushu, Roshibina Devi Naorem advanced to the women's 60kg event final, guaranteeing at least a silver medal. Nikhat Zareen, a two-time world champion boxer, reached the quarter-finals in her Asian Games debut, while Shiva Thapa and Sanjeet had opening match setbacks.
Tennis saw mixed results, with Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni securing a men’s doubles medal, but Sumit Nagal and Ankita Raina were eliminated, ending India's singles challenge. Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale progressed to the mixed doubles quarter-finals. In squash, the men's team fell to Pakistan, while the women's team won two ties, contributing to India's impressive medal tally.
