Asian Games 2023 Day 2, September 25, Updated Results: Shooting, Cricket deliver first two Gold

India won six medals on day two of the multi-nation event.

On the second day of the Asian Games 2023, India had a successful run with two historic gold medals and four bronze medals. The gold medals were achieved by the shooters Rudrankksh Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, and Divyansh Singh Panwar, who also set a world record in the men's 10m air rifle team final. Additionally, the women's cricket team secured India's first-ever gold medal at the Asian Games.

Several other athletes contributed to the bronze medal count. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar earned a bronze in the men's 10m air rifle individual event, while Vijayveer Sidhu, Adarsh Singh, and Anish Bhanwala secured bronze in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol team event. The rowing team added two more bronze medals to their tally in the men's four and men's quadruple events, bringing their total to five medals.

In Wushu, Roshibina Devi Naorem guaranteed at least a bronze medal after winning her women's 60kg quarter-final bout. Swimmers Srihari Nataraj and Likith Selvaraj, along with the men's 4x200m freestyle relay team, made it to their respective finals but did not clinch medals. The boxing arena saw successes from Nishant Dev and Deepak Bhoria, who won their pre-quarterfinal bouts, but Arundhati Choudhary was eliminated in the women's 66kg category.

A notable upset occurred in tennis, where top seeds Rohan Bopanna and Yuki Bhambri were eliminated in the men's doubles second round. However, several other Indian tennis players, including Ankita Raina, advanced to the next round in various events. Overall, India's medal tally reached 11 at the Asian Games 2023.
