WWE to host first match inside UFC Octagon?: Everthing we know so far

First ever WWE match inside UFC Octagon could happen this Sunday

WWE and UFC got merged under the same umbrella to form the TKO Group by the end by September 2023. WWE then went under the TKO Group by selling 51% and holding 49% of it. The combined partnership with WWE & UFC is mainly held to benefit both the companies in terms of revenue and popularity.

There were a number of expectations about the potential crossover between these two companies and it is all set to happen for the very first time this weekend.

WWE will be hosting the 2024 NXT Battleground pay-per-view on June 9, 2024 at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. For this year’s Battleground, the stamford based company is partnering with its sister company, UFC to host the event in UFC Apex, which is one of the official venues of UFC & Power Slap League.

As this is being the first WWE event to be hosted in a UFC arena, the stamford based company has booked a match to host their first WWE match inside UFC’s Octagon.

ufcWWE has booked six-matches for NXT Battleground 2024, in which five of them are championship matches and one is a NXT Underground match. Shayna Baszler will be facing Lola Vice in the NXT Underground match. The Underground match is nothing but a match that is held under the MMA rules, where the only way to win is either by a knockout or a submission, which will take place on a ring canvas with no ropes & no turnbuckles instead of the traditional wrestling ring. 

This will be the fourth underground match to take place in NXT & the second match in the women’s division. However the backstage reports from Fightful Select noted that the Vice vs Baszler match may take place inside the official UFC octagon for the very first time instead of the custom setup of the previous underground matches. UFC Apex features a 25 foot wide octagon, which UFC uses for small events.

WWE is not only having a crossover with UFC, but also with TNA, as the TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace will be facing NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the title in a singles match. Could we be able to see a lot of crossovers in between the companies? Comment your thoughts.
