WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights & Winners (May 17, 2024): King and Queen of the Ring Semifinals

Belair, Jax, Tonga & Orton advances to the semifinals, Cody & Logan signed the contract, multiple new feuds teased and much more!!!
The May 18, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the must watch episodes on the road to King and Queen of the Ring PLE. WWE showcased some of the incredible match-ups in the King and Queen of the Ring tournament and segments for the upcoming PLE. Get to know what happened on this week’s episode of SmackDown, as we came out with the complete match summary. highlights, results and winner’s list.
SmackDown Summary & Highlights
Queen of the Ring Quarterfinals- Bianca Belair vs Tiffany Stratton
The match began with Bianca Belair powering up, however Tiffy slapped Belair and pulled her hair to take her down. Belair slapped her back and kicked her on the mid section. Belair fought back with a Gutbuster, Lionsault and five punches to the face. Tiffany sneaked out and pulled her grade making Belair struck her leg between the ropes and sending her hitting knee first to the steel steps.
Tiffany targetted Belair’s bad knee throughout the match, blowing her leg to the ring post and through a leglock with the bridge. Belair however fought back with the bad leg. Tiffany went for gymnastic corner splash, but Belair countered it with a German Suplex turning her upside down.
Tiffany used cheap tricks, poking the eyes of Belair and went for the top ropes for the Prettiest Moonsault. However, Belair delivered the KOD to secure the win and advanced to the Semifinals.
Backstage- Logan Paul & LA Knight
Logan Paul tried to enter Nick Aldis room, where LA Knight came out. Both have a stare-down and Nick Aldis took Logan to his room.
Backstage- The Bloodline
The Bloodline is prepared for Tama Tonga vs LA Knight. Heyman asks Solo, if Solo spoke to Roman Reigns. Solo said he has been talking to Roman, all the time.
Backstage- LA Knight & Carmelo Hayes
LA Knight was interviewed backstage, Carmelo Hayes interrupted him asking Knight to welcome him to SmackDown. Both claim that they will be in the Semifinals. Knight says that he will fadeaway to RKO, but Hayes says that RKO will fade to HIM. Knight claims that he is over him, and he’ll know when everybody saying, ‘LA Knight’.
King of the Ring Quarterfinals- Tama Tonga vs LA Knight
The match began with Knight having the initial advantage. Tonga tried to lock Knight with the sleeperhold, but Knight threw him down. Knight took Tama Tonga in control, where Solo Sikoa and Tonga Loa came to distract Knight, standing on the apron. Tama Tonga took advantage of the distraction and took the momentum from him.
Knight countered Tama Tonga’s frog splash, by hitting a clothesline and blewing his face on the apron. Knight hit a powerslam and an elbow drop and measured him for a BFT. However Tonga Loa saved him. Knight slide kicked Loa and had some talks with Solo Sikoa. While entering the ring, Tama Tonga hit a running Flatliner to win the match and advance for the semifinals.
Backstage- LA Knight & Carmelo Hayes
LA Knight was confronted by Carmelo Hayes backstage, saying that he couldn’t handle business. Knight pushed Hayes and the officials separated them, before it turns into a brawl.
Champion vs Champion Contract Signing
Both the title were placed in the middle teasing that both the titles are being defended on the line. Cody Rhodes addressed the WWE Universe and said that it is the place where WarGames emerged. He said that he knows about this because he loves pro-wrestling. He claimed Logan as a tourist and said that he will be ending his tour by become the Grandslam Champion.
Logan Paul says that he didn’t came to hear Cody talk and only came to sign the contract. Logan tore the original contract claiming that it is not the contract he agreed to. Logan siad that he only wanted the Undisputed WWE Champion on the line. He brought an advocate with him, who gave another contract and Logan asked Aldis to make it official, by making Cody sign the contract.
Cody asked Aldis to leave saying that he’ll take care of him. Logan threw the contract on Cody saying “Sign the Contract Big Boy” (similar to how Jake Paul called out Mike Tyson). Cody said both Mike Tyson and Cody Rhodes will knock out Paul brothers in Saudi Arabia and signed the contract.
Logan tried to attack Cody from the back with the belt, but Cody escaped sending Logan out and powerbombed a friend of Logan breaking the table. Cody took both the titles in his hands, however threw the US title to Logan.
Queen of the Ring Quarterfinals- Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax
Both Jade Cargill and Nia Jax had some talks before the match and Nia Jax took Cargill with an elbow strike. Jade took Jax with a spinebuster. Jax took Jade out, sending her to the barricade near her daughter. Jax yelled her daughter saying “Your Mom Sucks”.
Jade tried to fight back, but Jax soon took the control sending her face first to the ring post. Jax pulled out a steel chair and tried to blew Jade with the chair. But Jade took the chair from her and hit her on the back to get disqualified.
After the match, Jade and Jax involved in a brawl, where Jade has the upperhand. Jade speared Jax through the ringpost and fights her through. A Bunch of officials came to separate them and Jax started retreating.
#DIY vs LDF
Johnny Gargano and Humberto started the match and the tag team champs were on the commentary. Both countered each others move and Humberto hit a overhead suplex. Ciampa got tagged in and #DIY with the double team take control of the match. Angel got the tag and he made Ciampa fall with extending the gap between the ropes.
After the commercial, LDF took Ciampa in control with their signature double team work. Gargano got tagged in and he cleared the house. Gargano speared Humberto using the springboard and went for the top rope. Escobar came to distract the referee, where Elektra Lopez pulled Gargano’s leg. Referee caught thm and sent both Escobar and Lopez out. DIY hit Meet in the Middle on Humberto and secured the win.

Backstage
Bayley was asked about who is her prediction to be the Queen of the Ring. Piper Niven and Chelsea Green came to confront her, blaming she was the reaskn behind Niven’s loss last week. Bayley said that she don’t have time for talks backstage. She called them to the ring next week to talk things there.
King of the Ring Quarterfinals- Randy Orton vs Carmelo Hayes
The match began with Carmelo Hayes targetting Randy Orton‘s bad knee and bully-slapped Orton on the back of the head. Orton was fired up and began to punishing Hayes sending him shoulder first to the ring post and delivering three backdrops on the announcement desk.
Hayes took control of Orton between the commercial with a spring board Clothesline and targetting Orton’s knee. Orton tried to fight back, but his knee was causing him trouble. Hayes tried to punt kick Orton, but Orton hit him with a Powerslam.
Hayes hit a codebreaker and went for Nothing but Net, but Orton countered it with the elevated DDT. Hayes went for a springboard Clothesline, but Orton hit him with a RKO to win and advance for the semifinals.
Randy Orton cuts promo
Randy Orton was about to give an interview, but The Bloodline arrived on the entrance ramp. Orton cut their music off, saying who he is, as they would have forgot. Orton want to kick Tama Tonga’s ass next week with three most deadly, dangerous letters in all the sports entertainment RKO.

- Bianca Belair defeated Tiffany Stratton to advance to the Queen of the Ring Semifinals.
- Tama Tonga defeated LA Knight to advance to the King of the Ring Semifinals.
- Cody Rhodes & Logan Paul signed the contract for their Undisputed WWE Championship match at the King and Queen of the Ring PLE.
