Panama suffered a loss in their opening Copa America 2024 match against Uruguay. Despite going toe-to-toe with them for most of the game, they conceded two goals in the final minutes to give Marcelo Bielsa’s team the win.

Thomas Christiansen’s side now face a strong USA team who will aim to put more misery on them. A loss here will see the Canal Men miss out on the next rounds. They cannot afford to slip up. If they had taken the chances against Uruguay, things could have been different for them. 

USA started their campaign with a brilliant win against Bolivia in the opening match. Goals from Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun were enough to seal the victory for them. There were plenty of eyes on how they would fare as host nations.

Gregg Berhalter’s side silenced everyone by putting a statement win as they dominated the game throughout the match. With the attacking trio in good form coupled with some excellent defending from the defenders, they are a side to look out for.

Michael Murillo (Panama) 

The Marseille man had a brilliant match against Uruguay despite them losing the match. He looked dangerous from the right-wingback position as he constantly moved in the attacking areas. Murillo finally found the reward for it as he netted a late consolation goal for the team.

He finished the match making four recoveries, one interception and one tackle each. Murillo also had a 100% dribble success rate in the match to cap off a brilliant performance. 

Christian Pulisic (USA) 

Christian Pulisic was outstanding against Bolivia in their opening Copa America match as he helped the team secure a comfortable victory. He proved to be the difference in the team after netting the opening goal and providing the assist for Balogun.

Pulisic also attempted four shots and created three chances for his teammates to complete a brilliant performance from him. He also helped the team defensively after making two tackles, five recoveries, and making a crucial block.
