The Argentine winger is set to leave Benfica in the summer

The Portuguese daily, A Bola claim that the SL Benfica winger has everything planned out for the future. According to the plan, Angel Di Maria will join teammate Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Di María will play for his first Argentine club, Rosario Central, during the final six months of 2024 before moving on to The Herons in 2025, where he will close his career with lifelong international teammate Messi.

Di María, who is 36 years old, is reportedly targeting two “final” flings, with the 2025 Major League Soccer season expected to be his last in professional football. If that came to be, his wife, and their kids would relocate from Lisbon to Miami this summer and he would follow them six months later at the beginning of the next year, according to A Bola.

With the addition of Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, Inter Miami have emerged as the biggest success story in MLS over the past 12 months. These moves have propelled the team to the very top of the Eastern Conference and the overall rankings in 2024. It seems that Ángel Di María, another international talent, will soon be joining them in Florida.

After an impressive career in Europe with Real Madrid, PSG and Juventus, Di María’s current deal with Benfica ends on June 30. After the 2024 Copa América in the United States, he appears destined for a return to South America with Rosario Central.

Adding the Argentine to the squad while adhering to MLS roster regulations would be a task for Inter Miami.

Di María’s club career may come to an end in 2025, as the article suggests, but we already know when his time with the Argentina national team will come to an end.

The forward, who netted La Albiceleste’s second goal in their 2022 World Cup victory over France, declared in October that he would be leaving the national side following the 2024 Copa América, which will take place in the US from June 20 to July 14.

The 138-capped Argentine international has at least five matches left at the international level. Given the kind of performances Argentina had in the 2021 title-winning run, it means Di María is likely to add more than five caps by the end of his international career.
