Virat Kohli scored only nine runs against England in the semi-final 2 in Guyana on June 27.

England left-arm speedster Reece Topley dismantled Indian opener Virat Kohli’s stumps during the second semi-final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on June 27.

After being asked to bat first, Indian openers Kohli and Rohit Sharma marched out in hopes of burying the memories of the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final encounter, when England hammered the Men in Blue by 10 wickets at the Adelaide Oval.

England pacers Topley and Jofra Archer bowled the two tight overs at the start as India managed to score 11 runs on a slow Guyana surface.

England skipper Jos Buttler continued with Topley for the third over of the innings. On the second delivery of the over, Kohli broke his shackles and hammered a six over mid-wicket.

On the fourth delivery of the same over, Topley took his revenge and shattered Kohli’s stumps. The left-arm speedster bowled a good length delivery that tailed back sharply into Kohli.

Kohli moved on the leg side and played a big hoick across the line; he was looking to smash the ball over mid-wicket but was beaten by the inward movement and missed the ball completely. The ball clattered into the top of the leg stump.
