A few months ago, Jay Shah said that India would lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.

An old video of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah is going viral across social media handles after Rohit Sharma-led India clinched their second ICC T20 World Cup trophy. A few months ago, Shah had promised that India would win the tournament in the West Indies and USA.

The Men in Blue won their second T20 World Cup after defeating the Aiden Markram-led South Africa in a close encounter by seven runs in Barbados on June 29. With this victory, India became the first side to win a men’s ICC T20 World Cup undefeated throughout the tournament.

The Rohit Sharma-led side also ended India’s 11-year-long wait for an ICC title and 17-year-long drought for a T20 World Cup trophy. Rohit became the second Indian skipper after legendary MS Dhoni to win this coveted title. The Dhoni-led India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa by defeating arch-rivals Pakistan in the final.

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, the legendary Indian pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from T20Is.

Kohli won the Player of the Match Award in the final against South Africa, whereas skipper Rohit was the second-highest run-scorer of the competition with 257 runs to his name in eight matches.

Jay Shah’s four-month video of predicting India will lift the T20 World Cup trophy went viral on social media

After the Indian cricket team won the hearts of a million fans by bringing the T20 World Cup trophy home, a clip of BCCI secretary Jay Shah went viral across all social media handles.

In this viral clip, Jay Shah won the hearts of Indian cricket fans when he said India would surely lift the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy in Barbados under the leadership of Rohit. BCCI secretary Shah’s words proved right.

Since the heartbreaking loss in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final, Rohit hadn’t played any T20Is for India, but the BCCI brought him back into the T20I side earlier this year and Shah confirmed him as the skipper.
