[Watch] BCCI shares emotional video of Rahul Dravid's last dressing room speech as India head coach

Rahul Dravid helped India lift the Asia Cup 2023 and the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shared an emotional video on their official social media handles of head coach Rahul Dravid delivering his final speech in the dressing room.

On June 29, the Indian cricket team made history after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 title by defeating South Africa in the grand finale in Barbados. India became the first team to win a men’s T20 World Cup without losing a single game in the tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led India also ended their 11-year ICC title drought.

It was an emotional moment for head coach Rahul Dravid as this tournament was his last assignment with the India senior men’s cricket team. Earlier, Dravid had confirmed that he will not reapply for the post of the Men in Blue’s head coach after his contract expires.

Under Dravid, among the major series, India had won the Asia Cup 2023 and home Test series against England and Australia, but lost the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final, World Cup 2023 final and the World Test Championship final. He now goes out with the T20 World Cup 2024 title to his name.

The BCCI shared a heartwarming video of Dravid giving the final speech in the Indian dressing room in Barbados. Dravid thanked the players for making him a part of this wonderful journey.

“I’m really short of words but all I just want to say is thank you to everyone for making me a part of what is an incredible memory,” Dravid said.

“I think all of you will remember these moments. Right, I think like we always say it’s not about the runs, it’s not about the wickets you’ll never remember your career but you’ll remember moments like this. So, let’s really enjoy it. I could not be more proud of you guys,” Dravid added.

The head coach further said that he is proud of every person who sacrificed everything and worked hard over the years. Dravid praised the whole Indian side and support staff, adding that the whole country is proud of them.

“To come back the way you did, the way you fought, the way we worked as a team, the resilience, there’s been some disappointments over the years where we’ve come close, we’ve never been able to cross the line,” he said.

“But, what this bunch of boys has done, what all of you have done, what everyone in the support staff has done, the hard work that we’ve put in, the sacrifices that we’ve made, you know, I think the whole country is really, really proud of each and every one of you and what you have achieved. And all of you should be,” the legendary cricketer added.
